The term Platform Company has invaded our business lingo. Over the past several years, the push for traditional companies to evolve into platform companies grows stronger. Few companies have made this transition, in part, because few understand what a platform company is. I tackle this topic and try to provide some clarity and foundational knowledge in this months issue.

I started my career in 1997, 3-years after Amazon launched. 10-years into my career, Apple iPhone launched with the App Store. 2 years into my career, Salesforce launched in 1999. I had just started a sales role and remember signing up for a free account to use as my customer relationship management system.
